Full-time Opportunities -Postdoctoral Associate in Reptile Ecology

The University of Florida Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center in Davie, Florida (Croc Docs) is seeking a postdoctoral associate. Successful candidate will use long-term datasets on American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis), American crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus), and invasive reptiles in southern Florida to understand reptile ecology and ecosystem dynamics and apply that understanding to ecosystem restoration and management. Research opportunities will build off of long term datasets on alligators, crocodiles, and invasive reptiles with opportunities to develop original research projects in the Everglades and to work on crocodiles and turtles in Belize, Cuba, and Jamaica.

Required Qualifications
Successful candidate should possess a PhD in ecology, wildlife biology, conservation biology or related discipline
Must be a self-motivated individual with strong field skills, good organizational skills, and ability to work independently and with other researchers
Proficient in quantitative methods such as hierarchical models of occupancy and abundance, spatial analyses, mark-recapture models, or population growth models
Skilled in Program R or similar statistical software
Documented experience in or potential for writing and publishing scientific articles
Start date: Position is anticipated to start as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Review of applications will begin in January 2019. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. Non-US citizen applicants should acquire all paperwork required for working in the US prior to applying.
